One of the most important questions that our clients ask us is, “Is It Legal To Sell My Diabetic Test Strips?”
The quick answer to this question is, YES! As long as you are the legal owner of your testing supplies, it is legal for you to sell them. Since diabetic test strips do not require a prescription and are sold over-the-counter at pharmacies nationwide such as Wal-Mart, Target, Walgreens, and CVS, they can be resold.
Are there conditions to this? YES! It is NOT legal to sell diabetic test strips that are supplied to you by Medicare or Medicaid. The government prohibits the reselling of test strips provided through their assistance programs. Test Strips supplied by Medicare and Medicaid typically have a red band at the bottom of the box that says “For Medicare and Medicaid Use Only”. It is also illegal to sell stolen test strips and lancets. We rely on your word to ensure the test strips you are selling to us are not stolen.
